We have exciting news to share: the Denver Downtown Development Authority (DDDA) has approved $100 million in new investments to revitalize downtown Denver — including $30 million dedicated to Civic Center Park.
As the nonprofit steward and fundraising arm of the park, Civic Center Conservancy has long championed the park as a vital gathering place where millions of Denverites and visitors come for culture, community, and connection. This investment underscores the importance of Civic Center Park to Denver’s future and reflects the trust placed in Civic Center Conservancy to help shape and sustain the heart of our downtown.
The $30 million investment will deliver:
- Upgraded infrastructure to preserve and strengthen the park and improve overall accessibility
- New lighting and garden walkways to create a safer, more inviting experience
- An expanded tree canopy to bring more beauty and shade to the park’s historic grounds
The $30 million Civic Center Park project is the largest single allocation in the DDDA’s first round of funding, which also includes investments in McNichols Civic Center Building, housing, local businesses, and public spaces to bring new energy and foot traffic back to the city’s core.
The Conservancy will work closely with public and private partners to ensure the park’s revitalization reflects community input and honors Civic Center’s historic legacy as the centerpiece of downtown Denver. The Conservancy has committed to raising additional private funds to assist DDDA.
We want to give a special thank you to our amazing partners at Denver Parks & Recreation who led this effort and our supporters – you helped make this milestone possible. Thank you to all of you who have championed advancement of this iconic public space. We look forward to sharing more as planning moves forward.
