Civic Center Conservancy is currently recruiting one-time volunteers to help with the upcoming Dia de los Muertos at Civic Center: Remembering Our Ancestors through Art, taking place on Saturday, October 26, 11am-7pm at Civic Center Park (Broadway + Colfax). 

In partnership with local artist Cal Duran, this free and public event will bring the Denver community together as a collective to honor and remember our ancestors and loved ones who have passed and provide the community a greater cultural understanding of death as a common human experience that should be honored and celebrated. We will have an artisan market, art Installations, food trucks, community workshops, a procession, Azteca dancers, music, and more!

Volunteer opportunities are diverse in nature, scope, and timing, including artwork installation with the Artistic Director and Community Partner altar set-up on Friday, supporting vendor load-in, helping with guest wayfinding, guiding the procession, and supporting load-out after the event on Saturday.

Dia de los Muertos at Civic Center is a program of Civic Center Conservancy and presented by Denver Botanic Gardens. 

Available Shifts: 
Friday, October 25: Art Installation and Community Altar setup

• 9 am – 12:30 pm (5 spots)*
• 12 – 3:30 pm (5 spots)*
• 3 – 6:30 pm (5 spots)*

Saturday, October 26: Vendor load-in, wayfinding, and load-out

• 9 am – 12:30 pm (5 spots)*
• 12 – 3:30 pm (5 spots)
• 3 – 6:30 pm (5 spots)
• 6 – 9:30pm (5 spots)*

Requirements

• Shifts with an (*): volunteers for these shifts should be comfortable with lifting up to 45 pounds and standing for at least an hour at a time.
