SUMMARY:Civic Center STARGAZE January
DESCRIPTION:Civic Center STARGAZE returns in January for a second season! \nJoin Civic Center Conservancy and AstroTours on the main promenade of Civic Center Park for a celestial journey right in the heart of the city. Accessible to all ages\, we invite you to learn from skilled astronomers about the wonders of the cosmos\, constellations and their folklore\, and observe the moon and other celestial bodies through high powered telescopes. Enjoy tasty food and beverages available for purchase from a local food truck to round out an enchanting evening that promises an “out of this world” experience! \nUPDATE: Wednesday’s “Starcast” \nHere’s a preview of what attendees can expect to see during this week’s STARGAZE! \n\n6:30-7:00 PM: Mars\, Venus\, and Jupiter\n7:00 – 8:00 PM: Saturn\, Venus\, Mars\, Moon\, Jupiter\, 7 sisters\, Orion nebula\n8:00 – 8:30 PM: Mars\, Moon\, Jupiter\, Seven Sisters\, Orion Nebula\, Sirius\n\nThe Seven Sisters (Pleiades): A tight cluster of bright stars. Most people see six\, but under really dark conditions\, you might glimpse that elusive seventh.\nOrion & Sirius: Orion is your winter anchor\, dominated by its iconic belt. Trace a line from the belt downward to Sirius\, the brightest star in our night sky\, twinkling in the southern horizon.\nThe Orion Nebula (in the sword of Orion) is a bustling stellar nursery visible in binoculars or a small scope.\nJupiter: All winter long\, Jupiter shines brilliantly\, offering prime telescope views of its swirling cloud belts and major moons. \nAdditional Upcoming Dates: February 12\, March 12\, and April 9. \nVisit the STARGAZE Page for the most up-to-date information.
